Prenatal visits are one of our FAVORITE visits at Wisco. A lot of women want to breastfeed, and want to be prepared for what it will look like, but aren’t really sure where to start. A prenatal visit is the perfect way to get informed.

A prenatal visit is all in the name. It’s a visit that usually takes place in the last few weeks of pregnancy where we sit down with an expecting mom to help her prepare for her breastfeeding journey, and set her up for success.
At Wisco, this will include a thorough assessment of your medical history to explore conditions that might affect breastfeeding, and education about getting feeding off to a successful start. Topics covered are things like latching, frequency of feedings, dealing with engorgement, how to know baby is getting enough, bottle/pump suggestions and when to seek help with breastfeeding. They can be tailored to include anything else mom might need to support a positive breastfeeding environment.
These visits can be helpful to anticipate specific challenges you might encounter based on your medical history, and to make a plan to manage those conditions to meet your breastfeeding goals. They can also be aptly timed to help you create a breastfeeding friendly birth plan, and set up a time to meet after the baby is born. Book your prenatal visit at Wisco Lactation today!
